Gold Medal Profile – Sport Psychology
The Gold Medal Profile (GMP) is the collection of skills and attributes that underpin the performance of an athlete capable of stepping onto the Para/Olympic podium, and forms the structure for excellence within the stage-based profiles in the Long-Term Athlete Development Framework. The GMP for Psychology in Sport model that has been developed by Own The Podium has is intended to provide guidance in the programming and support of sport governing bodies aspiring to achieve podium successes with their athlete populations.
The GMP outlines twelve (12) competencies in three (3) categories as they relate to specific attributes identified as important in the development of a high-performance Canadian athlete.
Mental Health skills are related to athlete well-being, both in and out of a sporting context.
