An Introduction to CSI Pacific for Registering Athletes

Registration and Eligibility FAQs

Your Provincial Sport Organization (e.g. Cycling BC, Rowing BC, Swim BC) will nominate you to CSI Pacific and you (or your parent/guardian) will receive an email inviting you to register with CSI Pacific.

Your PSO, establishes sport-specific criteria in in collaboration with Canadian Sport Institute, that identifies benchmarks athletes (or coaches / officials) must attain. To see your sport’s nomination criteria, please see the Sport Eligibility.

If you feel you should have been selected to your sport’s Athlete Nomination List, please contact your PSO or NSO directly to inquire about being nominated.

Welcome to BC! More than likely, the answer will be yes. However, while all of the national Canadian Sport Institutes and Centres work in partnership with each other, we operate differently in certain respects including registration eligibility.  If you are part of a national team program, your National Sport Organization will likely nominate you.   Provincial athletes must meet provincial nomination criteria.

You will be nominated by your sport organization annually, which ensures that you are meeting targeted athlete criteria.  As a requirement for ongoing nominations, athlete must ensure that they register with CSI Pacific, just as you would through your sport organization.  Annual registration helps CSI pacific uphold provincial rules for liability and consent.

You can access the registration portal at apps.csipacific.ca.  If you are a minor (under 19 in BC) your parent or guardian will need to complete the registration (signing waiver and consent). To complete the registration, you will need to sign CSI Pacific Waiver and Athlete or Coach Agreement (consent form).  You will also need to accurately complete a subscription quiz that helps you to understand CSI Pacific services and to access benefits.   Once you are registered you will be able to access CSI Pacific benefits and services.

Important Note:
Athletes, coaches and sport officials must be nominated by a National or Provincial Sport Organization or Sport Canada carded to obtain acceptance of their registration. If you have not been nominated by your sport, you will not be eligible to access these benefits and services.

If you believe that you should be nominated, please reach out to your respective Provincial or National Sport Organization. See the provincial eligibility criteria here.

CSI Pacific Identified Athlete Nomination Process

Athlete Services FAQs

How do I know if I am eligible to register with Canadian Sport Institute Pacific?

Your Provincial Sport Organization (e.g. Cycling BC, Rowing BC, Swim BC) will send you a notification letter informing that you have been nominated as a high performance athlete within BC and directing you to connect with your regional Athlete Coach Services representative.

How does the Provincial Sport Organization (PSO) decide which athletes to nominate?

The PSO, in cooperation with Canadian Sport Institute, has created a set of sport-specific criteria and benchmarks athletes must meet in order to be selected to their Athlete Nomination List. To see your sport’s nomination criteria, please see the Sport Eligibility

I think I meet the nomination criteria in my sport, but I was not nominated. What do I do?

If you feel you should have been selected to your sport’s Athlete Nomination List, please contact your PSO directly and ask to be added onto the list.

I was nominated by my PSO, but I lost my notification letter. Who do I contact to register with Canadian Sport Institute?

Congratulations on being nominated! Please use the Contact form at the bottom of this page to reach our Athlete Coach Services team and we will happily guide you through the registration process.

I have been nominated to register with Canadian Sport Institute, but I am not sure any of the listed benefits meet my needs. Is it worth my time to connect with an Athlete Coach Services representative and register with the Institute?

Yes! While we try and feature all of the benefits, programs, and support services registered athletes have access to on our website, it often requires context to truly understand how we can help you reach the next level in your athletic development. Every athlete receives a minimum of $2,000 value in kind benefits each year, but by taking advantage of our services, this number can be much higher!

I have just moved to BC, but I was registered with the Canadian Sport Institute in my home province. Does that qualify me to register with Canadian Sport Institute Pacific?

Welcome to BC! More than likely, the answer will be yes. However, while all of the national Canadian Sport Institutes and Centres work in partnership with each other, we operate differently in certain respects including registration eligibility. Please contact the Athlete Coach Services representative at the Centre closest to where you have relocated to get more information.

If I am registered with one of the BC regional centres, but need to move elsewhere in the province, how do I switch my “home” centre?

While we try to limit Provincial Development and Canadian Development athletes access to benefits in just one region, we understand that many will need to move throughout BC for extended periods of time and will require support. In these instances, please contact your previous Athlete Coach Services representative, or the team member at your new regional centre and we will transfer your registration and communicate any differences in the services each Centre offers.
