With 25 athletes - nearly double its population share - British Columbia cements its place as a powerhouse for Canada’s next generation of Olympians.
Victoria, B.C. (October 21, 2025) — The stage is set for the 2025 RBC Training Ground National Final, taking place November 1 at the at the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) grounds in Vancouver, and British Columbia athletes are taking charge. With 25 of the 100 national finalists hailing from BC, this year’s event highlights the province’s remarkable depth of emerging Olympic talent and is particularly impressive given that BC represents just 13% of Canada’s population. This strong showing demonstrates the province’s growing reputation as a national powerhouse for athletic development.
The RBC Training Ground National Final brings together 100 of Canada’s most promising young athletes, identified through a series of regional qualifying events across the country. Athletes are tested on strength, speed, power, and endurance with the top performers earning funding, mentorship, and potential placement with national sport organizations. Among this year’s finalists, 25 exceptional athletes from across British Columbia will compete for their chance to join Team Canada’s high-performance pathway.
“Seeing twenty-five BC athletes make the national final is an incredible accomplishment,” said Andrew Latham, Manager of Performance Pathways, Canadian Sport Institute Pacific. “It shows how effective BC’s athlete identification and development systems have become. From grassroots programs to high-performance environments, our province continues to produce athletes ready to take on the world.”
