Children’s Fitness Tax Credit

Spurring Involvement of Canadian Children in Sport

Children’s Fitness Tax Credit

The Children’s Fitness Tax Credit is a federal non-refundable tax credit for eligible fitness expenses paid to register a child in a prescribed program of physical activity, up to a maximum of $1,000 per child.

The Children’s Fitness Tax Credit is designed to address the negative health consequences resulting from declining levels of physical activity among Canadian children as well as to alleviate the escalating costs to parents when registering their child in organized physical activities.

Given we are in the midst of tax season, the Government of Canada would like to ensure that as many Canadian parents as possible are aware that they can submit a claim for the credit on their 2014 taxes. We would also like them to learn more about how to benefit from the credit as they organize their children’s activities throughout 2015.
