Affiliated athletes and staff make major contribution to Team Canada’s record medal haul

VICTORIA, BC – The PyeongChang 2018 Olympics featured a record setting performance by Team Canada as a whole, winning 29 medals for the first time in their history at a Winter Games.
Canadian Sport Institute Pacific (CSI Pacific) affiliated athletes made a major mark on the Games, as well, with their incredible performances and contributions to Canada’s medal total.
Forty-nine of Team Canada’s 225 athletes are athletes that train with CSI Pacific or benefit from their programs or services.
CSI Pacific affiliated athletes:
- Made up 22% of Team Canada
- Accounted for 31% of Canada’s total medals
- Won 45% of Team Canada’s gold medals
Five Canadian Sport Institute Pacific scientists attended the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Games with National Sport Organization (NSO) partners, and each of them were part of a support team for an athlete(s) that brought home a gold medal.
