Michael Walker
Mike Walker is a retired Professional Engineer, Military Officer and senior Government of Canada Executive with diverse leadership experience in the military and government, and as a volunteer in sport. His executive level experience in program management spans many areas, including IM/IT, real property, complex financial management systems, national workforce management, and strategic governance, which have shaped his strategic and disciplined approach to governance and stewardship.
In sport, Mike has chaired the Boards of two National Sport Organizations, Rowing Canada Aviron and Biathlon Canada, bringing a results-driven, strategic approach to high-performance sport leadership. He is known for his ability to lead cohesive teams, implement strong governance frameworks, and foster collaborative partnerships to support long-term success.
With five decades of involvement in sport as an athlete, coach, official, and volunteer, Mike offers a deep understanding of the sport ecosystem and its stakeholders. He is a steady, experienced voice in the boardroom, committed to advancing organizational excellence and supporting athletes, coaches, and the broader sport community in British Columbia.
