Note from 2017 Victoria Keynote Speaker, Ryan Cochrane

Ryan Cochrane“The amount of promising developmental athletes we have in Victoria is staggering; I truly believe this is where our next Olympic champion will be found. With my experience of over a decade on the National team, it is important to me to share insight which will ideally help these athletes on their path to the Olympic podium. While everyone’s journey to success is unique, there are numerous events we all must face, and I’m excited to act as a resource and share my expertise.”

Frequently Asked Questions

While the event could be classified as a retreat, we believe language is important and approach the event as an Advance because we are continually working to propel athletes forward and looking for progress, rather than retreating.

To service you, the athlete, better we have decided to bring the event to our two largest campuses and make accessing the amazing staff and knowledge base both accessible and timely. The event is also condensed to a shorter schedule so you can train before or after the sessions, or both!

We are going to answer this question with more questions: Do you want to ensure your athlete have access to some of Canada’s leading sport performance practitioners at no cost? Do you want to give your athlete every opportunity to succeed by learning from their peers who have already made the top of the podium in their sport? Send them to the Athlete Advance and we can ensure they leave with tangible tools to be better at your sport.

We welcome all coaches and parents of registered athletes at our Speaker Series events but do restrict Athlete Advance attendance to athletes only.

These events are always very popular! In an anonymous survey at the 2015 event, every single athlete said they would recommend the event to their peers.

While your sport may have unique aspects, we can all learn from each other. You may be surprised by how much you have in common with an athlete from a completely different sport, and how much you can learn from their approaches to the challenges and excitement that sport brings. Engaging with athletes from other sports can be very motivating and inspiring.
